　　Lesson 8 The best and the worst

　　1、 enter for 报名参加（各种竞赛、考试等活动）

　　跟我们在第6课学到的put、take、look一样，enter后面加介词for 就改变了原来的意思，组成了新的短语动词。

　　例句：How many people have entered for the race?

　　2、competition, contest, match and race 都有比塞的意思，区别如下：

　　competition 多指体育运动中的各种比赛，也指知识、技巧方面的竞赛。

　　例句：Nearly everybody entered for ‘The Nicest Garden Competition’ each year.

　　Contest 多指音乐、书法、演讲等方面的比赛，结果由评判委员会裁决。

　　例句：All of us will take part in this maths contest.

　　match 多指体育运动项目的比赛，各方势均力敌。

　　例句：He was watching a football match.

　　race 通常指短跑比赛。

　　例句：A game that is very popular with these young swimmers is the underwater tricycle race.

　　3、注意everything, everybody, everyone 后面的谓语动词必须是单数形式，另外，everyone 可以用于人和物，而everybody 只能用于人。

　　4、形容词和副词的比较级和最高级，规则如下：

　　（1）通常比较级是在形容词、副词后面加er，最高级加est.

　　（2）形容词、副词是两个音节以上时，比较级是在前面加more, 最高级是加most.

　　（3）一些形容词、副词比较级和最高级是不规则变化，比如本课中出现的 good—better—best, bad—worse—worst, many—more---most.

　　5、按要求回答问题，组成不超过45个单词的段落。

　　Joe Sanders has the most beautiful garden in town. He wins ‘The Nicest Garden Competition’ each year. Bill Frith has a fine garden too. Joe’s is better. The writer’s garden is terrible. He always wins a prize for the worst garden in the town.

　　6、根据课文内容及知识点，试着自己写个小作文。

　　This text described that ‘The Nicest Garden Competition’ was be held each year in the town. Nearly everybody in the town entered for this competition but the man named Joe Sanders won every time. Though the writer liked garden and entered the competition each year, he always won a little prize for the worst garden in the town.

　　My behave on planting flowers and green plants is same with the writer. I like flowers and green plants but I don’t like hard work. And the most important reason about it is not willing to pay more times and energy. So I have already given up to plant flowers and green plants.

　　Actually the garden is yours, you like it is all right. The garden’s competition will cause compare in mind with other people.

　　It is not necessary to compare with other people in real life. Life is yours and do everything following your abilities is all right. Most of trouble are come from compare with other people.

　　Hope we everybody live calmly and happy every day.
