　　The emerging use of robotics in aged care (URAC) is driven largely by demographical change, and cost considerations. With declining birth rates and fewer marriages in industrialized countries like China, Korea, and Japan, there is an anticipation that the robotic technology could improve the lives of the elderly, reduce their dependence on human caregivers, and create better opportunities for meaningful lives and social interactions. Yet URAC has raised a plethora of ethical issues that must be carefully identified and addressed, and with sufficient sensitivity to the cultural, sociological, and philosophical traditions in which medical practice is embedded. In this talk, I will address ethical issues brought by AI-enabled technologies. Special attention will be given to the challenges of URAC to the Confucian ideal of “filial piety”.

　　新兴的老年护理机器人的使用主要是由人口变化和成本考虑所驱动的。随着中国，韩国和日本等工业化国家出生率和结婚率的下降，人们期望这项机器人技术可以改善老年人的生活，减少他们对人类护理人员的依赖，并为有意义的生活和社会互动创造更好的机会。然而，老年护理机器人的使用已经带来了大量的伦理议题，我们必须仔细发掘和处理这些问题，并对医学实践所嵌入的文化、社会学以及哲学传统保持足够的敏感性。本讲将讨论人工智能技术所带来的伦理议题，特别关注老年护理机器人的使用对儒家孝道的挑战。
