How to Start from Conceptual Ideas to a Marketable Product

如何从不同的概念到达一个有市场价值的产品

Abstract:

Traditionally, a product design normally starts from an idea generation followed by a prototype making, to engineering design and then product manufacturing. All these processes are clearly described in many textbooks and also from the mouth of academics. However, in the real world, product design is an art of integrating knowledge, philosophy, skills and languages of different professional disciplines, such as design, engineering, marketing, business and most recently, information technology.

The starting point of designing a new product is always an arguable topic, in which it is highly dependent on who is going to kick-off the task first. For a designer, it always likes starting fromartistic concerns while an engineer is so keen on functionality, i.e. technologies.In fact, there are two different scenarios that drive a new product to the market, they are： i) market driven design/product and ii) new technology drivendesign/product.

Another area that recently makes a great impact in the productdesign community, is on how to speed up the design and manufacturing process,in which the time and labour force can be kept to minimal. In this case, the cost for production can be reduced substantially. Industries 4.0, initiated by Germany is one of the hot topics that many countries have started investigatingits feasibility. In this lecture, a practical experience sharing will be givenand detail discussion on the current product design process, that is adopted by the industry will also be highlighted.

传统而言，产品设计通常是先有想法，再打版，然后是工艺设计，再然后是产品生产。这些流程，很多教科书和专家们都描述得很清楚。但是，在现实世界里，产品设计是一门糅合了知识、哲学、技艺、和很多不同学科语言的艺术，这些不同的学科包括设计、工程、市场、管理，还有新兴的信息技术。

设计新产品的起始点一直是一个没有确定结论的话题，很大程度这取决于谁先发起这个任务。对一个设计师来说，艺术性常常是出发点，而工程师更关注功性能，也就是，技术。事实上，新产品问世有两种情形，一是市场驱动的设计/产品，二是新技术驱动的设计/产品。

最近对产品设计界产生很大影响的另一个领域是，如何加快设计和制造进程，在这个进程中时间和人力都可以保持最低。这样，产品的成本可以大幅降低。由德国发起的4.0产业（Industries 4.0）是一个热门话题，很多国家都开始研究它的可行性。本次讲座将分享实际经验，并且会详细讨论目前业界已经采用的产品设计流程。

2017年3月25日，中华艺术宫。上海市青年创意人才协会第二届第一次会员大会召开。大会表决产生了由46人组成的协会第二届理事会。在随后举行的第二届理事会第一次全体会议上，我院院长娄永琪教授当选为上海市青年创意人才协会第二届会长。王晶当选为常务副会长，丁伟、牛斌、田雨均、连振、宋波、易辉、金江波、赵亮、贾波等当选为副会长，沈立东被聘为名誉会长。

团市委书记徐未晚对新一届理事会和青年才俊们寄予厚望。她在会员大会上表示，“希望全体会员胸怀家国情怀，勇担社会责任，把事业发展与实现中国梦和上海建设国际文化大都市结合起来。新一届青年创意人才协会要加快自身改革创新，加强服务能力建设，在服务中引领青年创意人才、在服务中培育青年创意人才、在服务中凝聚青年创意人才。”

市经信委巡视员、市文创办副主任陈跃华说，“希望青年创意人才协会注重围绕国家重大战略和上海市委市政府的中心工作来促进自身发展，积极推进产学研合作，加快培养高层次、复合型创意人才。”

作为新会长，娄永琪教授说：“我们若不甘心看到我们自己、这座城市、这个时代归于平庸，就必需加倍努力，站在全球视野前瞻未来。青年人若不能站在时代浪尖上看问题，就辜负了这个时代。”娄永琪教授也表态，愿意为上海这座城市，愿意为了协会齐心协力，努力把个人情怀、工作和协会未来联系在一起。
